Hansen Yuncken Scholarship for Women in Construction and Engineering

Overview

To encourage and support female students to continue their higher education in the UTS Bachelor of Construction Project Management or a Bachelor of Engineering degree with a major in Civil or Civil and Environmental engineering.


Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Australian or New Zealand citizens, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
  • Be female-identifying; and 
  • Be commencing their first or second year and enrolled in one of the following degrees:
  • For continuing students - have achieved a minimum of a Pass Average (WAM 50 or above); and 
  • Bachelor of Construction Project Management (C10214); or
  • Bachelor of Construction Project Management, Bachelor of International Studies (C10215); or
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (C09066) majoring in Civil or Civil and Environmental Engineering; or
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Bachelor of International Studies (C09123) majoring in Civil or Civil and Environmental Engineering; or
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (C09067) majoring in Civil or Civil and Environmental Engineering; or
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Bachelor of International Studies Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (C09124) majoring in Civil or Civil and Environmental Engineering; and
  • All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarships Application form to be eligible. 
  • All candidates must be available to attend an interview in person.

 

Note: Previous recipients of this Scholarship cannot re-apply.


Selection process

As demonstrated in the Scholarship application and interview:

  • Motivation to succeed in the chosen Construction or Engineering course and the construction industry; and
  • Initiative in personal and professional life; and
  • Academic merit in: 
    • For commencing students: the academic qualification used as basis of admission into the UTS undergraduate coursework degree; or
    • For continuing students: performance in the first year of an eligible UTS Engineering or Construction course (based on WAM); and
  • Relevant work experience demonstrated through statements/letters of employment submitted with the Scholarship application may be given preference.
