Level A ($89,610 - $96,007 per annum) plus and an employer contribution of 9.5% superannuation will apply.

The University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021 will apply to a successful candidate’s employment at the University.  The University recently temporarily varied its Enterprise Agreement.  Please be advised that the salary range, along with other conditions associated with this position, may change in accordance with the variation to the Enterprise Agreement.

Fixed-term position available immediately for one year, with possible extension based on performance.

Postdoc Research position at Centre for Materials in Energy and Catalysis (CMEC), to experimentally synthesise electrocatalyst materials for clean energy conversion reactions.

Build your research career at the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials in a world-class research centre led by ARC Laureate Fellow, Professor Shizhang Qiao.

Supported by a Laureate Fellowship, this research position aims to conduct synthesis of advanced materials, characterisation, and electrochemical measurement about their performance in clean energy conversion reactions.

The successful applicant will be working in CMEC, with a diverse range of scientists and engineers with expertise in materials science and engineering for energy related applications. The research will be interdisciplinary and have a strong fundamental component with cutting edge materials synthesis and advanced analytical methods.

To be successful you will need: 

  • A recent Ph.D. in the field of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related field.
  • A strong track record of research, relative to the career opportunity, in the field of Material Science or Electrocatalysis, as evidenced by a nationally recognised publication record.
  • Knowledge and experience in; material design for electrocatalysis applications; modern materials synthesis methodologies, such as wet chemical synthesis and electro-synthesis; modern materials characterization methodologies, such as Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and Raman Spectroscopy and conduction of various electrochemical measurements.
  • Highly self-motivated to conduct research in electrocatalyst material discovery by advanced synthetic and characterization techniques.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate scientific and engineering ideas to audiences, both orally and written.
