Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Economic Geology of Rare Earth Elements

Be at the forefront of the burgeoning field of critical minerals geoscience working on an interdisciplinary research project that connects academia, Queensland government and industry.

We are seeking to appoint an Earth scientist with a research track record in mineralogy/ geochemistry/ore geology to undertake research on the rare earth element ore potential of phosphate-rich sedimentary rocks of NW Queensland. The project is part of a collaborative research program with the Geological Survey of Queensland.

The successful applicant will join a newly-established and growing Critical Minerals Research Centre within the Department of Earth Sciences at The University of Adelaide. The candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with partners from Queensland Government and the exploration industry in the field of rare earth element ore systems.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Geology, or a related field.
  • A commitment to research excellence in mineralogy, geochemistry and/or ore geology, with a demonstrated relevant publication track record in leading scientific journals.
  • A proven ability to conduct independent research, as well as to work effectively as a member of a research team.
  • Experience in acquisition and interpretation of geo-analytical data.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
