(Level A) $89,610 - $96,007 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation may apply.

This fixed-term position is available immediately until 30 June 2023, with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

The Australian Plant Phenomics Facility (APPF) is a national research facility established in 2009 as part of the Commonwealth National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy. The Adelaide node of the APPF, known as The Plant Accelerator®, is located on the University of Adelaide’s Waite Campus, and is a world leading plant growth and analysis facility fitted with high quality plant growth environments and state-of-the-art high-throughput imaging and data analysis technology.

The Plant Accelerator® is seeking a highly motivated individual to complement the skills of our established team. In this role you will be skilled in computer vision and image processing, and ready to work with large data sets from a range of sources, including visible, hyperspectral, or LiDAR sensors. Working in a small dynamic team, you will also support the wider activities of the Australian Plant Phenomics Facility to deliver measurable impacts to the plant science community.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or other closely related areas, and a good first degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • A background in computer vision and machine learning (particularly deep learning).
  • Proficiency in handling image and hyperspectral data.
  • Experience in object detection, object counting, image classification and semantic segmentation.
  • Skilled in using and implementing machine learning models based on popular frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
