Future Community Leader Scholarship

We are pleased to advise that due to overwhelming demand, applications for the Future Community Leader Scholarship have been extended until Sunday 15 September.

In 2020, USQ will offer 10 Future Community Leader Scholarships.

The scholarship is for students commencing full-time study at USQ and is offered in recognition of students' participation in the community and to provide maximum opportunity for students to start tertiary study at one of USQ's campuses.


Value

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $6000.

The scholarship is paid as a stipend per unit/per semester (24 units over a maximum of 4 years).


Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status
  • have completed Year 12 in 2019
  • have a sound level of academic achievement
  • be commencing their studies at USQ in a bachelor's degree in Semester 1 2020
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in each of Semester 1 and Semester 2 of each year of study
  • be studying on-campus, external or online.

Selection criteria
Applicants must:
  • Submit your report card from Semester 1 2019
  • Complete the community and leadership roles table as directed in the application process
  • Demonstrate your community and leadership involvement and achievements by submitting supporting documentation such as letters, certificates and/or awards from community groups and/or your school
  • Submit a personal statement (one page maximum) outlining:
    • your future leadership aspirations
    • how study at USQ will assist you with these aspirations and goals
    • why you chose USQ.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student applicants who have received scholarships from Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) should include this information in their application.

Application must be made via the USQ Scholarship Application Management System by the closing date.
