At a glance
  • For a successful PhD applicant, the scholarship will be up to $60,000.00 (tax exempt) over three years full-time, with a maximum payable rate of $20,000.00 per annum.
  • For a successful Master by Research applicant, the scholarship will be up to $15,000.00 per annum for two years ($30,000).

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Applicants must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Applicants must hold an Honours degree or equivalent in medical sciences, nursing, biological/health sciences, allied health, psychology, pharmacology or related fields
  • Applicants must be enrolled in or applying for admission to a full-time candidature for the degree of PhD or Masters by Research at a WA University.
  • Applicants may be recipients of a Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship or equivalent but cannot currently hold another supplementary scholarship.
  • Applicants must be able to commence their project in 2022

Project eligibility
  • Projects must relate to the provision of mental health services to Aboriginal people in a hospital or community setting, preferably within East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS).
  • Projects must have the potential to be of value to EMHS and the broader WA health system and to be translated into meaningful and enduring improvements to mental health for Aboriginal consumers.
