Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship

The Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship was established from the generosity of members of the South Australian legal fraternity and the proceeds of the Portrait of John Bray and Dame Roma Glimpses of a Glorious Life Volumes.

This scholarship will support one student who secures a human rights internship and is eligible to enrol in the Human Rights Internship Programme (HRIP) offered as part of the undergraduate law degree at the University of Adelaide.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:

• Be undertaking the Bachelor of Laws program 
• Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia 
• Be enrolled in at least a three-quarter student load and be studying or completed studying a course on international law or human rights law offered as part of the undergraduate law degree in a Commonwealth Supported Place
• Demonstrate you are in financial need*

* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:

• Academic merit (GPA)
• Financial need
• Answers to questions on the application form

Important Information:

• You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
• The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
• Students receiving other University of Adelaide Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship
• Please note, where two or more candidates are of equal merit in any year, the Scholarship may be divided equally amongst them.

Students in receipt of other University of Adelaide Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship but students cannot be awarded both a Law Foundation of SA Inc Human Rights Internship Scholarship and the Dame Roma Mitchell Scholarship.
