Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Grant: Action selection in insects: how a microbrain knows what to do

This exciting project is a partnership between Prof Karin Nordström at Flinders University and Prof Andrew Barron at Macquarie University. 

The student will be placed at Flinders University, with co-supervision provided by Dr Yuri Ogawa. There will be ample opportunity for interacting with the Macquarie team, which also includes a PhD student.

We are looking for someone with a keen interest in hoverflies, motion vision, decision making, insect behavior, neuroscience and electrophysiology, and/or virtual reality. Appropriate backgrounds include biology, zoology, neuroscience, software engineering, machine learning. We will tailor the

details of the project to suit the student’s background and interests.
