About this scholarship

The Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship aims to empower students living with disability to fulfill their education dream. Proudly funded in partnership between the Dylan Alcott Foundation and Curtin University.

The Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of 5 years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):

  • Up to $5,000 per semester paid directly towards the tuition fees (excluding the Student Services Amenities Fees (SSAF)).
  • A cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion towards educational related expenses.
  • A monthly connection opportunity (virtual or in person) is guaranteed through the Dylan Alcott Foundation and will include a representative of Curtin.
  • A mentoring and support program for the duration of the scholarship will be delivered by Curtin.

Additional unit attempts will not be covered under the scholarship. If a recipient fails any units, it will be their responsibility to pay for the additional unit attempt.


Scholarship Details

Any Undergraduate degree at Curtin either on-campus or online. 


  • Enrolled in a minimum of 50 credits within an eligible course in semester 1, 2024.
  • 26 years or under at the time of application.
  • Living with disability or long-term medical condition and able to provide supporting documentation (physical, non-physical, visible, non-visible).
  • Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 50 (if applicable).


Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program " application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program'.

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online.
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process.
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website.

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS.
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed.
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted.

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted.

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications for the Dylan Alcott Foundation Scholarship will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Impact of their disability on their pursuit of education
    • Passion for chosen course of study, reasons for selection, future career goals and aspirations
    • Interview performance (for shortlisted applicants)
    • Preference will be given to applicants enrolled full-time (75+ credits).

Step 6: Shortlist for interview

  • Shortlisted applicants will be sent an interview date and time via student email in late February.
  • Shortlisted applicants must be available for designated interview time between 28 February - 6 March 2024.
  • Unsuccessful applicants will be sent a notification via Scholarship Channel (student OASIS).

Step 7: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date.

Step 8: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline.

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit.
  • Scholarship will commence from Semester 1, 2024.


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Maintain an enrolment each study period at Curtin University.
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50 each study period.
  • Fail no more than one unit each study period.
  • Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose.
