About this scholarship
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support to Geology students who are experiencing financial hardship, with preference given to students from rural or regional areas.

The Red Hill Minerals Equity Scholarship will provide the following support for up to two years (based on a full-time enrolment 100 credits per semester):
- A total value of up to $20,000 paid as a cash stipend of $5,000 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses

- Bachelor of Applied Geology
- Bachelor of Science (Science) (Earth Sciences)
- Bachelor of Advanced Science (Earth Sciences) (Honours)
- Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology), Bachelor of Commerce (Finance)
- Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology), Bachelor of Environmental Biology
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered eligible for the Red Hill Minerals Equity Scholarship:
- Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
- Enrolled full-time (minimum 75 credits) in the penultimate year of an eligible course in semester 1, 2024
- Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 50
- Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are externally funded and/or for the same purpose
- From a low socio-economic background (ascertained from answers on application form)
- Demonstrated financial need
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program " application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all scholarships that you are eligible for in this round
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (both equity as well as merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete)
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses to questions in application form
• Socio-economic background (SES) questions
• Financial need assessment
• Special considerations (e.g. life challenges such as caring for a family member or medical conditions) - Preference will be given to students from a rural/regional area
- Responses to questions in application form
Step 6: Outcome
- All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Remain enrolled in initial course of study
- Maintain a full-time enrolment of at least 75 credits per semester at Curtin University
- Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50 each semester
- Not apply for or receive any other scholarships that are externally funded and/or for the same purpose whilst receiving the Red Hill Minerals Equity Scholarship
- Fail no more than one unit per study period
