Description/Applicant information

This Scholarship was established to support and encourage students in their studies and to promote a career in the field of Hydrographic Surveying, whilst also publicising the activities of the industry with the aim of addressing a shortage of skilled personnel.  
MMA Offshore specialises in providing high-specification vessels and a comprehensive suite of marine and subsea services to the offshore energy sector and wider maritime industries. Combining state-of-the-art equipment and highly experienced personnel, MMA Offshore provides a range of subsea services including survey, geophysical and geotechnical services, engineering services, commercial diving and ROV operations, subsea stabilisation solutions and manufacturing assembly and test services, all managed by in-house project management and delivery expertise.

The MMA Offshore Hydrographic Surveying Scholarship will provide the following support for two years* (based on a full-time enrolment of 100 credits per semester):

• A total value up to $10,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses
  *The possibility of additional support for a 4th year for a 2nd year student may be considered, subject to review by MMA Offshore.

• Bachelor of Surveying (Honours)

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the MMA Offshore Hydrographic Surveying Scholarship:

• Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
• Enrolled full-time (a minimum of 75 credits) in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of an eligible course in semester 1, 2024
• Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 60
• Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are externally funded and/or for the same purpose

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

• Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
• If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for this scholarship (as well as all equity and merit scholarships), we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete)

Step 2: Complete

• Complete the application form online
• Application form can be saved at any point of the process
• Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
• Applying for a scholarship - See guidelines and tips (including the interview preparation) on how to complete your application

Step 3: Submit

• Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
• Incomplete applications will not be assessed
• Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

• Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

• Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Academic merit
  • Passion and vision for a career in the field of Hydrographic Surveying
  • Work experience or non-academic achievements (extra curricular and leadership)
  • Interview performance (for shortlisted applicants)

Step 6: Shortlist for Interview

• Shortlisted applicants will be sent an interview date and time via their student email in late March to early April
• Shortlisted applicants must be available for the designated interview time (early to mid-April)
• Unsuccessful applicants will be sent a notification via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS)

Step 7: Outcome

• Successful and unsuccessful interview applicants will be notified of their outcome via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of closing date

Step 8: Acceptance

• Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

• Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

• Remain enrolled in initial course of study
• Maintain a full-time enrolment of a minimum of at least 75 credits per semester at Curtin University
• Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 60 each semester
• Pass all units attempted each semester
• Not apply for or receive any other scholarships that are externally funded and/or for the same purpose whilst receiving the MMA Offshore Hydrographic Surveying Scholarship
