About this scholarship

The purpose of the GR Engineering Services Limited Scholarship is to support engineering and extractive metallurgy students who show an interest in the resources and mineral processing industry who due to personal hardships require financial assistance to complete their course of study. 
GR Engineering Services Limited is an engineering, consulting and contracting company specialising in engineering design and construction services to the resources and mineral processing industry.

The GR Engineering Scholarship will provide the following support for up to one year (based on a full-time enrolment of 75 credits per semester):

  • A total of $7,500 paid as a cash stipend of $3,750 per semester. The stipend may be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses
  • Potential paid or unpaid vacation work if requested by the recipient (dependant on business operations and availability)


Scholarship Details

  • Bachelor of Engineering (all majors and double degrees eligible except Mining Engineering)
  • Bachelor of Science (Extractive Metallurgy)


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the GR Engineering Services Scholarship:

  • Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
  • Enrolled full-time (75 credits) in an eligible course in Semester 1, 2024
  • Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 60
  • Not be or have been in receipt of any other externally or Curtin funded scholarships (with the exception of Curtin funded Financial Hardship bursaries under $1,500 and Personal Development bursaries)


Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program " application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all scholarships that you are eligible for in this round
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (both equity as well as merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete)

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications for this scholarship will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Demonstration of financial hardship
    • Socioeconomic background
    • Demonstrate a genuine interest in a future career in the mineral processing industry (250 words minimum)

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in initial course of study
  • Maintain a full-time enrolment of at least 75 credits each semester at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 60 each semester
  • Not apply for or receive any other externally or Curtin funded scholarships (with the exception of Curtin funded Financial Hardship bursaries under $1,500 and Personal Development bursaries, which will be permitted)
