About this scholarship

The ConvaTec Wound, Ostomy and Continence Scholarship has been developed to support and encourage Curtin University students studying the specialist nursing field of wound, ostomy and continence practice. The scholarship is funded by ConvaTec, a global medical products and technologies company that aims to optimise health care outcomes, recovery and rehabilitation for individuals.

The ConvaTec Wound, Ostomy and Continence Scholarship will provide the following support towards the student contribution fees for up to one year:

  • Graduate Certificate in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice - potential total value of up to $8,000
  • Master of Advance Practice (Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice Specialisation) - potential total value of up to $12,000

Note:

  • The recipient's scholarship benefit may not cover their entire fees. The recipient is responsible for any remainder of their student contribution fees.
  • The recipient is responsible for the Student Service and Amenities Fee (SSAF) as the scholarship benefit will not cover this fee.


Scholarship Details

  • Graduate Certificate in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice
  • Master of Advance Practice (Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice Specialisation)


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the ConvaTec Wound, Ostomy and Continence Scholarship:

  • Australian, Australian permanent resident or New Zealand Citizen
  • Receive an offer for and enrol into an eligible course at Curtin Perth in semester 1, 2024 as listed below:
    • Graduate Certificate in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice
    • Master of Advance Practice (Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice Specialisation)
  • Registered Nurse who can meet the Curtin University criteria for admission to an eligible course
  • Not be in receipt of any other industry sponsored scholarship

(*) Credits for Recognised Learning (CRL) is credits that you receive when your previous study is recognised and matched against a similar unit in your intended Curtin course.


Application process

Step 1: Access online application form

  • Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • If you are a new student, to apply online, you must first apply for the course admission
  • Once you receive your Curtin student number and activate your OASIS account you can apply for the scholarship online using your Curtin student number; or
  • Create your own application log in for the scholarship application and proceed with online application.

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found under the Applying for scholarships link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Demonstrated academic merit
    • Demonstrated clinical merit
    • Demonstrated leadership
    • CV
    • Letter of support from current employer
    • 300 word response outlining benefits of the course for their professional development and current employment

Step 6: Outcome

  • Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS)

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
  • Scholarship is not deferrable.
  • Scholarship will commence from the semester of study for which the scholarship was awarded
  • Scholarship is not transferable to another major, course or university
  • The award and continuity of the scholarship is subject to receipt by Curtin of the scholarship funding from the scholarship sponsor


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in an initial course of study
  • Maintain a full-time or part-time enrolment each semester at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 70 each study period
  • Pass all units attempted each study period
  • Fulfil clinical placement requirements, as required by the course
  • Not apply for or receive any other industry sponsored scholarship whilst receiving the ConvaTec Wound, Ostomy and Continence Scholarship
