About this scholarship

This full PhD scholarship is funded via the Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage project “Assessment of structural integrity and deterioration of masonry walls”. This four-year ARC Linkage project is led by University of Newcastle in conjunction with Curtin University, and supported by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and industry. This PhD candidate based at Curtin University will develop vision-based technique to assess the structural integrity and condition of masonry walls with deteriorated ties.

The annual scholarship package (stipend and tuition fees) is approx. $60,000 - $70,000 p.a. Successful PhD applicant for admission will receive a 100% fee offset for up to 4 years, stipend scholarships at the 2023 RTP rate valued at $32,250 p.a. for up to a maximum of 3 years, with a possible 6-month completion scholarship.

All applicable HDR courses


Applicants should have Master degree or Bachelor degree (honours) with research experience or industry experience in Civil or Structural engineering or the related fields.

Research experiences and technical  publications are desired.

To start as early as possible.

Eligible to enrol in PhD program at Curtin University no later than Feb 2024.
