About this scholarship
The WAIT Alumni Financial Assistance Bursary is available to assist students from a low socio-economic background and experiencing financial hardship. Funding for this bursary has been made available by the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) and Curtin Alumni. The bursary is available to students who are enrolled in an eligible undergraduate course at Curtin University in 2023.

The WAIT Alumni Financial Assistance Bursary will provide the following support (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits):
- A one-off cash payment of $2,500. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Scholarship Details
All undergraduate courses
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered eligible for the WAIT Alumni Financial Assistance Bursary:
- Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, the holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa or New Zealand citizen
- Enrolled in a minimum of 25 credits an undergraduate course at Curtin University in semester 1, 2023
- Completed at least 200 credits in your current course of study at the time the bursary applications close
- Enrolled as an internal student at Curtin Perth
- Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 50
- From a low socio-economic background (ascertained from answers on application form)
- Experiencing financial hardship
- Not in receipt of any other scholarships/bursaries
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program " application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process
- Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
- Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website
Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses to questions in application form
- Demonstration of financial hardship
- Socioeconomic background
Step 6: Outcome
- All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Holding more than one industry scholarship
Students may apply for as many scholarships as they are eligible for, and if successful, will be awarded the highest value scholarship. If students are successful in receiving an offer for more than one scholarship valued the same, they will have the opportunity to select their preferred scholarship.
