The purpose of the Tronox Scholarship is to support and encourage students in their studies and to increase awareness of the work undertaken by Tronox.
Tronox is a global company with Mining and Pigment and group operations in Australia, Brazil, China, France, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The Tronox Scholarship will provide the following support for up to one year (based on a full time study load of 100 credits per semester):
- A total value of up to $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. The stipend may be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards education-related expenses such as textbooks and/or general living expenses
- Possible paid vacation work (dependant on business operations and availability)
Scholarship Details
All Science and Engineering undergraduate courses at Curtin
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Tronox Scholarship:
- Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
- Enrolled full-time (100 credits) in the 3rd year of an eligible course in Semester 1, 2023*
- Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 60
- Not currently in receipt of an industry sponsored scholarship
*Applicant must have completed 400 credits of their course
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (both equity as well as merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete)
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process
- Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
- Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website
Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses in application form
- Interview performance (for shortlisted applicants)
- Preference given to students for the following criteria (in order):
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- From a rural/regional area
- Female-identifying/non-binary
- Financial need (based on answers provided in scholarship statement)
Step 6: Shortlist for Interview
- Shortlisted applicants will be sent an interview date and time via their student email
- Shortlisted applicants must be available for the designated interview time
- Interviews will be conducted between 29 March and 6 April 2023
- Unsuccessful applicants will be sent a notification via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS)
Step 7: Outcome
- Successful and unsuccessful interview applicants will be notified of their outcome via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) within approximately two weeks of their interview date
Step 8: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Remain enrolled in initial course of study
- Maintain a full-time study load of 100 credits each semester at Curtin University
- Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 60 each semester
- Pass all units attempted each semester
- Not apply for or receive any other industry sponsored scholarship whilst receiving the Tronox Scholarship
