At a glance
  • Open to future international students commencing their studies in 2022 on-campus at either ECU Joondalup or ECU Mount Lawley. Students must accept their course offer between 2 September 2022 - 6 August 2023.
  • Also open to continuing international students who:
    • commenced their studies online in the relevant academic teaching periods, between 20 July 2020 and 25 July 2022, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions;
    • have remained continuously enrolled (in at least one unit) during the relevant teaching periods while offshore; and
    • will be continuing their studies on-campus for the first time, at ECU Mount Lawley or ECU Joondalup in 2023.
  • A set rate of $137.70 per week for a 22-week contract or $127.70 per week for a 44-week contract in accommodation at the ECU Student VillageMount Lawley, for stays until 31 December 2023.
  • Available to the first 100 eligible applicants on a first come-first served basis, for rooms in a 5-bedroom shared poolside apartment at the ECU Mount Lawley Campus.

Eligibility guidelines

To be eligible for this bursary you must:

  • be an international student (not an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand Citizen);
  • be studying an undergraduate or masters by coursework program on-campus for the first time, at ECU Joondalup or ECU Mount Lawley locations in 2023;
  • be able to meet mandatory vaccination and travel requirements set by the Australian and Western Australian Governments;
  • New future students - must have accepted their offer between 2 September 2022 and 6 August 2023, to study at ECU Joondalup or ECU Mount Lawley;
  • Continuing students - must have commenced their studies online between the academic teaching periods of 20 July 2020 – 25 July 2022 due to COVID-19 and be studying on campus for the first time in 2023. Proof of valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) or offshore status may be required at time of application.
  • at all relevant times meet the entry and ongoing accommodation requirements of the ECU Student Village Mount Lawley; and
  • not receive a government scholarship or industry sponsorship for your studies.

Terms and conditions
  • The recipient must continue to meet the eligibility guidelines and these terms and conditions at the time of applying and throughout 2023;
  • The recipient must be enrolled to study in 60 credit points each Semester or study period in 2023;
  • The recipient must be in continuous good standing academically and financially;
  • Students are responsible for meeting travel and vaccination requirements set by the Australian and Western Australian Government, please see further at https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/travel-restrictions
  • Students will also need to be aware of their obligations regarding complying with the Western Australian government safe transition plan:  https://www.wa.gov.au/government/announcements/was-safe-transition-plan , including any travel restrictions;
  • ECU may, in its absolute discretion, cancel the bursary if the recipient does not enrol in their units of study or pay their tuition fees by the relevant date(s) published by ECU;
  • The recipient will become ineligible for the bursary if at any time they cease to be a resident at ECU Student Village Mount Lawley;
  • The recipient may become ineligible for the bursary if they receive a government scholarship or industry sponsorship or another grant during the term of the bursary. Ongoing eligibility for the bursary in these circumstances is at ECU’s absolute discretion;
  • The recipient must comply with ECU’s statutes, rules, by-laws, policies, procedures, or other similar instruments, and with all applicable visa requirements;
  • The recipient agrees to promptly notify ECU of any change of circumstances that my affect their ongoing eligibility;
  • The bursary includes accommodation for one bedroom and shared amenities in a 5-bedroom poolside apartment at the ECU Student Village Mount Lawley;
  • The bursary will be paid directly to the village operator and is not redeemable for cash or student credit. The student will be required to reimburse ECU for any unused portion of the bursary, including where the student becomes ineligible or the bursary is cancelled in accordance with these terms.

All bursaries are awarded at ECU’s discretion. ECU reserves the right to revoke the bursary at any stage if a student is found to have provided information that is false or misleading, or the recipient does not comply with the ongoing conditions of the bursary. In these circumstances, ECU may require any amounts paid to the recipient to be refunded to ECU.

ECU reserves the right to decline to award bursaries if, in its opinion, there are no suitable applicants. This bursary may be withdrawn from offering by ECU at any time without notice.
