About this scholarship

  • The Indigenous Allied Health Scholarship has been developed to support and encourage Indigenous Australian students to enrol in eligible courses within the Curtin School of Allied Health and successfully complete their study at Curtin University.

The Indigenous Allied Health Scholarship will provide the following support for the normal expected duration of the degree: 

  • A cash stipend of up to $2,000.00 per semester

This amount can be used at the recipients discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.

  • Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy)
  • Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology)
  • Bachelor of Science (Speech Pathology) (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Social Work
  • Master of Occupational Therapy
  • Master of Social Work (Qualifying)
  • Master of Speech Pathology
  • Master of Physiotherapy
  • Doctor of Physiotherapy
  • Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Indigenous Allied Health Scholarship:

  • Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Will be enrolling into an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the School of Allied Health at Curtin University in semester 1, 2023
  • Not be in receipt of another scholarship (Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships are exempted from this clause)
  • Will enrol in a minimum 50 credits per semester at Curtin University


Application process

Step 1: Access online application form

  • Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found under the Applying for scholarships link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Receipt of an offer of a place into an eligible degree at Curtin University in 2023
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Demonstrated academic potential
    • Performance in interview

Step 6: Shortlist for Interview

  • Should an interview be required, shortlisted applicants will be sent interview date and time via the email listed through TISC
  • Interview will be held early to mid-December 2022
  • Shortlisted applicants must be available for designated interview date and time

Step 6: Outcome

  • Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC after main round course offers (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants (including those who wish to defer their studies) must return acceptance documents by the deadline specified in the terms and conditions
  • Deferral of this scholarship is permitted (details included in scholarship terms and conditions)

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in initial course of study
  • Maintain a minimum 50 credit points each study period at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50 each study period
  • Pass all units attempted each study period
