About this scholarship

The Bureau Veritas Scholarship has been established to support a third year Mechanical Engineering student, as the donor seeks to gain exposure to and encourage diversity in the WA workforce.

The Bureau Veritas Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of two years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):

  • A total value of up to $10,000 paid as a cash stipend of $5,000 per semester. The stipend may be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards education-related expenses such as text books and/or general living expenses
  • Paid or unpaid Work Integrated Learning with the Bureau Veritas


Scholarship Details

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering), Bachelor of Commerce (double degree)


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Bureau Veritas Scholarship:

  • Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
  • Commencing full-time (100 credits) of their 3rd year of an eligible degree in semester 1, 2023*
  • Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 65
  • Not be in receipt of any other industry sponsored scholarship

*Double degree students must be enrolled in their 4th year of study (completed a minimum of 600 credits) to be considered eligible 


Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (both equity as well as merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ page on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Academic merit

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Maintain a full-time enrolment of 100 credits in an eligible course each semester at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65 each semester
  • Pass all units attempted each study period
  • Not apply for or receive any other industry sponsored scholarship whilst receiving the Bureau Veritas Scholarship

The recipient is strongly encouraged to complete their Honours project in the fourth year with Bureau Veritas
