About this scholarship

This scholarship has been established by Ms Anna Ciffolilli in appreciation to the palliative care given to her parents. The scholarship supports a nursing student enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or the Master of Nursing Practice degree undertaking a clinical placement in palliative care or oncology.

The Anna Ciffolilli Placement Scholarship will provide the following support:

  • A one-off cash payment of $1,500. The amount can be used at the student's discretion.


Scholarship Details

This scholarship is for students undertaking a palliative care or oncology clinical placement in:

  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
    • NURS4002 Transitional Nursing Practice
    • AGEN4000 Palliative Care
  • Master of Nursing Practice
    • NURS5021 Nursing Professional Practice 2
    • NURS5023 Nursing Professional Practice Capstone
    • NURS5027 Nursing Professional Practice 3


Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Anna Ciffolilli Placement Scholarship:

  • Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder or New Zealand citizen
  • Have a current course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50
  • Enrolled part-time (minimum 25 credits) or full-time (at least 75 credits) in semester 1, 2022 in either:
    • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or Master of Nursing Practice, and be accepted to undertake a clinical placement in palliative care or oncology as part of one of the eligible listed units
  • Have passed all units to date in their course
  • Demonstrated financial need

Please note: Prior to applying, applicants must speak to their unit coordinator who will assist them in finding a suitable placement in palliative care and/or oncology. 


Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment & Selection Criteria

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Additional selection criteria:
      • Pending receipt of acceptance into an eligible placement in palliative care or oncology
    • Preference will be given to students undertaking a placement in palliative care

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome will be sent via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
  • • If there are candidates of equal need, merit will be the determining factor
  • The award of the scholarship is subject to receipt by Curtin of the scholarship funding from the donor


Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must be undertaking:

  • A palliative care or oncology clinical placement in NURS4002 Transitional Nursing Practice or AGEN4000 Palliative Care as part of their Bachelor of Science (Nursing) undergraduate degree, or
  • A palliative care or oncology clinical placement in NURS5021 Nursing Professional Practice 2 or NURS5023 Nursing Professional Practice Capstone or NURS5027 Nursing Professional Practice 3 as part of their Master of Nursing Practice coursework degree
