About this scholarship

This scholarship is funded by Curtin University to support an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship research project entitled ‘Home ownership and housing wealth: ageing and intergenerational pathways’ led by Professor Rachel Ong ViforJ. The scholarship project will generate new knowledge on the ways in which parents use wealth and income transfers to improve their children’s housing outcomes. The project requires a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, i.e. applications are assessed as they are received.

This scholarship provides a stipend of $28,854 p.a. indexed annually, based on full-time studies, for up to a maximum of 3.5 years, pending compliance with milestone and candidacy requirements. Successful applicants will receive a 100% tuition fee offset.

Doctor of Philosophy – Economics and Finance


  • Future Higher degree by research applicants
  • Full-time enrolment
  • Shows an active research interest in housing economics or social policy issues pertaining to Australia
  • Has achieved a Masters by Research, First Class Honours, or Second Class Upper Honours with some research experience, in economics or related fields
  • Familiarity with quantitative modelling skills and qualitative methods
  • Successful recipients must not be in receipt of any other scholarship

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must complete their milestone 1 within 6 months of enrolment and remain enrolled on a full-time basis basis for the duration of the scholarship.
