Short-Term Research Scholarship (BICD) for masters enrolled in a non-academic degree

A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) Short-Term Research Scholarship (BICD) for masters enrolled in a non-academic degree course within the R&D Project “COPES - COnsensus Protocols Environments and Specifications”, financed by CoEnzyme SAS, hosted by Universidade of Beira Interior and taking place at NOVA-LINCS, New University of Lisbon (Portugal) and at University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilhã (Portugal), under the following conditions:

Research Field: Informatics / Computer Science

Objectives:

- Define a general framework for formalising blockchain consensus protocols and for simulating their execution, in order to show their key properties.

- Produce and disseminate knowledge, including research activities derived from scientific curiosity and practice-based activities aimed at improving professional training, as well as promoting scientific culture.

Work plan:

- produce a survey of the state-of-the-art;

- provide a formal operational semantics for a DSL to express protocols;

- show that concrete implementations with the DSL of known protocols have the envisaged properties;

- publish the obtained results and present them to the community.

Work location:

The workplace will be at NOVA-LINCS (research unit of the Portuguese R&D system) of the Science and Technology Faculty of New University of Lisbon (Portugal) and at the Computer Science Department of University of Beira Interior, Covilhã (Portugal),

The planned work will be done under the scientific guidance of Doctor António Ravara and Doctor Simão de Sousa.

Fellowship duration and conditions:

The duration of these scholarships will be 3 months, and the part of work taking place outside the UBI cannot exceed 2 months.

The activity is in regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the .

Publication/notification of results:

The final results of the evaluation process will be published in a sorted list, by the final classification obtained, and posted in a visible and public place of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Beira Interior.
