Summary of Duties:

This position has primary responsibility for contact, advising and guidance of students, faculty, staff, and parents in all areas of Student Financial Services. Position will provide guidance and expertise to the department’s multi-faceted student success initiatives and communications area. The position provides leadership in the communications efforts, including query writing and quality control around the office’s significant 3C communications processes. Programmatic duties involve financial aid and scholarships programs and processing, client services facilitation, utilizing award adjustment, professional judgment, and needs analysis skills. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, training support and communications content development and editing for department print publications, website, and social media. Other duties also include: participating in recruitment and outreach events, and providing presentations to a variety of groups. Position duties and responsibilities will be performed in support of the office vision, mission and values as well as institutional mission and goals.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to implementing systems and methods for student programs and services; advising and counseling of students; preparing University policy, procedures and updates; developing and participating in student workshops; functioning as a liaison with University faculty, supervisors, and internal and external constituents; monitoring and evaluating student services and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.


Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Experience in customer service.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Developed skills in written and verbal communication including experience with large group presentations.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends/evenings.

  • Good problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with student services in a higher education setting.

  • Experience working in Financial Aid and Scholarships, Admissions, Student Accounts, Academic Advising, Registrar, Graduate School, Athletics, and/or Housing and Dining.

  • Experience working with People-Soft.

  • Master’s Degree in a related field.

  • Bilingual/Bi-literate in English and Spanish.
