Summary of Duties:

The Fiscal Specialist 2 will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer for fiscal/administrative problem solving/project planning and analysis. Serves as a Cost Center Manager, HR Partner and Primary Recruiter for all staff actions. Other duties include, but are not limited to: developing and creating reports; maintaining financial databases and worksheets, monitoring and maintaining all college personnel and payroll records and data; assisting and/or taking the lead with grants and contracts administration in preparing, and reviewing sponsored projects budgets and review quarterly F & A reports; develop and implement internal business process to assist with HR, Finance and Payroll. Represent the finance area at specified department meetings. Establish and maintain comprehensive fiscal record keeping systems; analyze, establish, and maintain self-sustaining accounts. The position operates in a dynamic environment with varying financial responsibilities in support of activities such as teaching, fundraising, advising, academic outreach, and research. Identify and recommend internal controls and areas for process improvement. 


Required Qualifications:

Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience interpreting policies and procedures. 

  • Demonstrated experience with problem solving and multi-tasking. 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint Services, Access, Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook. 

  • Experience reconciling and overseeing large accounts.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education. 

  • Experience with WSU systems.

  • Experience with spreadsheets and/or databases. 

  • Demonstrated Experience with business process improvements.
