Summary of Duties:

The Murrow College of Communication and the Health Care Authority are enthusiastically accepting applications for a State Opioid Response Treatment Manager. This position will oversee the development, implementation, and management of assigned opioid-related projects/initiatives; ensure the DBHR HCA is in compliance with all contractual requirements and expectations of federal oversight (SAMHSA) and all pertinent statutes, regulations, and policies; make policy recommendations based on data and outcome measures that show results or promise in improving treatment outcomes for individuals with an opioid use disorder (OUD); and that maximize the prudent use of limited taxpayer dollars; prepare and submit timely project reports to WA-SOR Program Director; prepare and support semi-annual reports to SAMHSA regarding the status of the WA-SOR II grant; participate in SAMHSA webinars and meetings relevant to WA-SOR II; author the annual continuation application for the WA-SOR II grant’s treatment components; and provide contract management.

The work location for this position is Olympia, WA.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Specialized experience in, and of knowledge of, federal and state statutes, regulations, expectations of funders, rules and policies and how they relate to OUD prevention, intervention and treatment services. 

  • Specialized experience and knowledge of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD – methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone products) and opioid overdose prevention and naloxone. 

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field; and five to ten (5-10) professional experience in planning, administration, developing, or delivering social, financial, health services programs, or chemical dependency treatment. 

  • OR a Master’s degree in Social Work, a health or social science, public administration or a related field, or a Juris Doctorate; and three years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health or chemical dependency treatment services programs. 

  • Chemical Dependency Professional Licensure.
