Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

The Grants and Contracts Administrator in the School of the Environment oversees, develops and maintains detailed records of departmental, grant, and financial transactions. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: compiling, reviewing, and disseminating complex budget statements and reports to the faculty, researchers, and Director in accordance with GAAP; working with faculty to prepare/certify budgets, submit proposals, and approve eREX’s per established protocols; performing all aspects of post-award grant management; preparing and/or utilizing various instruments for purchasing; processing deposits and donations; assisting with Service Center fiscal management; and other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets. 

  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and certifying complex budgets. 

  • One to three years of experience working in an office environment and understanding of office protocols and procedures. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to three years of experience with Excel spreadsheets. 

  • Knowledge and/or experience initiating and monitoring subcontracts and/or reviewing invoices to approve for payment. 

  • Knowledge of and experience with Enterprise management software/Business Systems applications, such as Data Warehouse (Business Objects), Oracle, MyWSU and Workday.

  • One to three years of familiarity with WSU or higher education system, which includes familiarity with a mainframe system, personnel processes, budget experience and fiscal process.
