Summary of Duties:

The Program Coordinator provides primary support for university operations relating to health sciences compliance coordination and support for other compliance or civil rights related programs under the purview of the department. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the development of plans, policies, committees, trainings, and procedures to ensure WSU’s compliance with university, state and federal laws, and regulations including, but not limited to, HIPAA, Uniform Health Care Information Act, Cures Act, Patient Bill of Rights, best practices, misconduct, accessibility, equal employment opportunity, and other health sciences or civil rights obligations as needed.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: facilitate reviews and audits of university polices and departmental practices for compliance with university, state, or federal requirements, draft compliance review summaries, research relevant compliance laws and regulations, coordinate university-wide committee and stakeholder meetings and follow-up, field inquiries regarding university processes, policies, and resources, develop training and outreach materials, and generally, supporting university-wide compliance efforts or responses.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Program Specialty: Compliance or closely related field

  • Experience developing and/or disseminating information, such as trainings, written or verbal communications, policies, procedures, or reports.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience writing reports, reviewing and processing detailed documents, and handling confidential issues.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated attention to details.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a diverse team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of inclusiveness.

  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, software programs to support CCR functions, such as Qualtrics, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Articulate, and others. 

  • Familiarity with concepts of health sciences and civil rights compliance, or familiarity with assessing other compliance laws, regulations, or requirements and applying them within a business or higher education environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software programs to support Compliance and Civil Rights (CCR) functions, such as Qualtrics, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Articulate, and others.

  • Familiarity with concepts, laws, and regulations of HIPAA, CURES Act, and other health sciences laws and regulations.

  • Familiarity with concepts, laws, and regulations of civil rights laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, Affirmative Action, Title IX, Clery, ADA, and Equal Employment Opportunity.

  • Higher education degree in a relevant field.

  • Experience working in higher education.

Additional Information:

Monthly Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
