Summary of Duties:

The WSU Upward Bound Program Assistant is responsible for providing program support for the implementation of the U.S. Department of Education TRIO grant-funded Upward Bound program in Omak, WA. Responsibilities fall into two general areas – student services support and administrative support. The position requires application of an in-depth knowledge of program areas and of TRIO and WSU regulatory and administrative requirements. Also the ability to exercise independent, sound judgment; to maintain confidentiality, to organize complex and detailed information, to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and to communicate with the public with tact. Must also work productively in a dynamic team environment


Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and friendly, positive attitude.

  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe software.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with TRIO projects.

  • Experience with federal and state regulations and requirements regarding administration of grants.

  • Experience managing budget reports.

  • Self motivated, independent and team worker, able to organize complex and detailed information and to meet multiple deadlines.
