Summary of Duties:
The WSU Upward Bound Program Assistant is responsible for providing program support for the implementation of the U.S. Department of Education TRIO grant-funded Upward Bound program in Omak, WA. Responsibilities fall into two general areas – student services support and administrative support. The position requires application of an in-depth knowledge of program areas and of TRIO and WSU regulatory and administrative requirements. Also the ability to exercise independent, sound judgment; to maintain confidentiality, to organize complex and detailed information, to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and to communicate with the public with tact. Must also work productively in a dynamic team environment
Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and friendly, positive attitude.
In depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Adobe software.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with TRIO projects.
Experience with federal and state regulations and requirements regarding administration of grants.
Experience managing budget reports.
Self motivated, independent and team worker, able to organize complex and detailed information and to meet multiple deadlines.
