The University of Washington Bothell is accepting applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar. The successful applicant and will engage in research on Northwestern US climate change. The position is based at UW Bothell and is part of a team including researchers at the UW Seattle Atmospheric Sciences department. This NSF-funded project addresses several basic research questions using an ensemble of regional climate model projections for the Northwestern US. Specific project tasks include:
- Analyze climate simulations from the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) mesoscale atmospheric model to understand basic interactions in the coupled atmosphere-land system that control regional climate change.
- Design and perform WRF model simulations to test hypotheses and expand the model ensemble.
- Collaborate with other staff on analysis, model simulations, and data management.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. or foreign equivalent, earned within the last four years in Atmospheric Sciences or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience with climate system modeling or climate model analysis
- Advanced programming skills for modeling, data analysis, and visualization in a Linux environment (e.g. Python, Matlab, Fortran)

Term of appointment:
The initial appointment will be for one year with possible extensions. Compensation for the position is competitive and post docs at the University of Washington are considered faculty and receive a full benefits package. The Postdoctoral Scholar title is limited to five years, including postdoctoral experience(s) at UW and other institutions.
