Summary of Duties:

The Office Assistant 3 position is responsible for providing a variety of administrative and secretarial support duties for the Department of Horticulture. The duties of this position include providing operational coordination, administrative support, and project management, often on complex and confidential issues; performing and/or overseeing a variety of administrative and staff support; and planning activities that often have Department, College or University impact.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduation or equivalent and two years of clerical experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize responsibilities and accomplish work by deadlines.

  • Ability to proof documents for grammar, English usage and spelling.

  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously address multiple complex problems.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and evidence of ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, co-workers and constituents.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use office software such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing, Outlook, and/or similar software.

  • Experience working with Workday preferred.

  • Experience in higher education or similar complex organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
