Summary of Duties:

Responsible for the management of assigned institutional research functions and the provision of high-level information used for the formulation of university policies and procedures and strategic decision-making. Conduct and oversee research activities involving the compilation of complex data, mathematical and statistical models and analysis, and policy analysis to support institutional and unit level (e.g., system, campus, college, academic/administrative department, program) informational needs on students, employees, and finances in higher education for delivery to university officers, Board of Regents, the state legislature, state agencies (e.g. Office of Financial Management, Education Data Research Center, Washington Student Achievement Council), federal agencies, accrediting entities, and national organizations.  
 

Manage consistent collection, analysis, and reporting of data on students, employees, and finances including data for budgetary and legislative review purposes, strategic planning, internal and external benchmarking, accreditation, and other internal system administration.

Responsible for data completeness and integrity in support of institutional policies related to university strategic planning, benchmarking, data alignment, and reporting. Develop, design, and implement processes and tools for dynamic web delivery of data. Develop processes to automate selected current processes. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in business data analysis or related; OR a combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years from which comparable knowledge and ability are acquired.

  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and/or using computerized record systems and relational databases or information management, especially as used in academic settings (such as PeopleSoft, Banner, Workday, Faculty Success by Watermark).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience in Institutional Research or another analytical unit in higher education.

  • Experience in planning, organizing, and managing large complex research projects while handling multiple, complex issues and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, and communications within the university and outside agencies.

  • Experience which demonstrates aptitude in presenting and communicating data analysis.

  • Experience in manipulating large and complex datasets and samples.

  • Computer skills that include knowledge of and ability to work with relational databases and statistical software packages (e.g., Access, Business Objects, SAS, SPSS, R, Python, and/or SQL Server) and word processing skills.

  • Experience in statistical analysis as well as statistical modeling and forecasting techniques.
