Summary of Duties:

Washington State University (WSU) is seeking a Data Consultant 3 who is passionate about DNA sequencing data management, bioinformatics, and complex statistical analysis. You will act as a data consultant and work closely with investigators who deal with sequencing and bioinformatic data. Additional duties will be developing complex statistical analytic methods, developing digital analytic programs, troubleshooting, equipment monitoring, and analysis and interpretation of research data. You will work closely with the faculty within the CRB and across the College of Veterinary Medicine who’s research focus’ are diverse and include but are not limited to reproductive/developmental biology, cancer researcher, veterinary research, genetics, and biomedical research. 
 

The position is in support of a university funded Functional Genomics Initiative that is aimed at elevating the life sciences research enterprise at WSU


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree including college level course work in statistics and/or mathematics AND two (2) years of experience working as a Data Consultant 2 or equivalent; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Experience in computations for single cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) and bulk RNA-seq analysis.

  • Experience providing complex comprehensive analysis of statistics for data base. 

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.

  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Experience developing advanced statistical data analysis and complex design algorithms. 

  • Experience interpreting and analyzing data using mainframe, mathematical statistical processing, or computer application software. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Dedication to working in an interdisciplinary team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
