Summary of Duties:

Washington State University Human Resource Services is recruiting for multiple HR assistants to join our highly productive and client-driven compensation unit.  Full-time, part-time, remote/hybrid opportunities available. Full-time and part-time, remote/hybrid opportunities available.

Working independently under general supervision and within established guidelines, the Compensation Assistant performs a variety of duties in support of the Human Resource Services Compensation unit.  This position will provide assistance on various compensation projects, research, and day-to-day activities while applying specialized knowledge and independent judgment in resolving technical and paraprofessional problems and interpreting and applying human resource rules, policies, regulations or procedures. Reviews the accuracy of records, exercises decision making authority, and initiates corrections within established guidelines.  

These positions will be primarily based near one of our WSU system locations; however, if you live in Washington, Idaho and Oregon, remote/hybrid work may be available.


Required Qualifications:

  • Four years of office experience including two years of experience in a human resource OR related setting OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint).

  • Proven ability to perform a variety of tasks at one time, with frequent interruptions.

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent attention to details skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), classification and compensation practices.

  • Experience with classification & compensation including researching market data.

  • Experience presenting group orientations and/or trainings.
