Summary of Duties:

The Financial Research Administrator works with the AgAID Institute Director and Project Manager to provide specialized grant and finance support to faculty and staff across the AgAID Institute. 
In accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Financial Research Administrator will provide both pre- and post-award grant administration. They will be responsible for coordinating research and extension grants involving other colleges and Universities, independently reviewing and approving grant budgets, reviewing and approving travel expenses, managing Facilities and Administration (F&A) returns, advising faculty, Principal Investigators (PI), and administrators on preparation of proposal budgets, overseeing and administering subcontracts, and assisting in the interpretation of funding agency and institutional regulations and policies for faculty and staff. Additionally, they will independently plan, coordinate and conduct analysis for project revenue projections, budgets and/or expenditure forecasts and summarize the data for reporting purposes. 


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience.

  • Understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

  • Ability to provide supportive leadership, clear communication in a team-based environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in business operations, which may include, process improvement, budget preparation, reporting, etc.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Ability to work outside normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.).

  • May require travel outside the Pullman area. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the Federal Uniform Guidance, the Washington Administrative Code, and the WSU BPPM, SPPM and Executive Policy Manual.

  • A Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Masters of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Professional Accounting (MPA).

  • Experience with all types of funders (including but not limited to federal, state, foundations) and their methods of submission (including but not limited to federal application portals, foundation web submissions, e-mailed submissions).

  • Familiarity with Workday.

Monthly Salary: $1,993.50
