Summary of Duties:
Under general supervision, the incumbent prepares automated or manual recurring fiscal reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The incumbent creates, monitors and maintains awards on sponsored programs; ensures compliance with grant and/or contract requirements; and notifies appropriate personnel of actions needed on budget problems. The incumbent assists with interpreting administrative regulations and policies to staff within the institution and outside agencies. The incumbent performs accounting duties such as cost share reporting, Facilities and Administrative (F&A) reconciliations and budget reconciliations. The incumbent prepares financial reports analyzing, interpreting and summarizing data in accordance with the specific agency’s terms and conditions. The incumbent reviews, analyzes and interprets agency accounting and financial records and reports produced by automated and manual systems; analyzes and corrects discrepancies; assists in the preparation of fiscal reports and provides recommendations to management concerning overdue receivables.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, which must include at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing or budgeting; OR equivalent education/experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency level with Microsoft software programs such as Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint to create spreadsheets, graphs, charts and reports, prepare presentations, conduct data analysis and manage information efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with grants and contracts
- Experience auditing, reconciling, analyzing data
- Experience using web-based computer databases, e.g., the Payment Management System
- Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Access.
