Summary of Duties:

The Executive Director of Administrative and Financial Services provides executive leadership and direction for business operations to include development, implementation, monitoring, assessment, and strategic planning. The Executive Director oversees fiscal management, budget development and administrative functions for Information Technology Services to include, but limited to, directing the acquisition of new revenue sources, identifying internal and external funding partners, monitoring fiscal accountability, contract management, and directing human resource functions. Serves as the principal consultant and adviser to the Vice President on a wide range of financial, personnel and policy issues.  Position also works closely with the Director of Operating Budget (WSU Budget Office).


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.

  • Relevant degree fields include business administration, public administration, or closely related field with accounting emphasis.  Relevant progressively responsible experience includes accounting and business management with supervisory and facilities management experience. 

  • Supervisory experience in higher education or equivalent local or state agency experience. 

  • Experience supervising a variety of employees including those performing budgetary and fiscal duties. 

  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.

  • Experience in fiscal management and budget development. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field and/or CPA certification.

  • Five (5) years of experience in higher education or equivalent local or state agency.

  • Experience at WSU.

  • Experience with presentation of complex date and/or technical information.

  • Experience purchasing information technology resources (including RFP experience). 

  • Experience with facilities maintenance/remodel including information technology infrastructure. 

  • Demonstrated collaborative approach to identifying and implementing business solutions.
