Summary of Duties:

The Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Support Technician is responsible for learning and achieving in-depth knowledge of the Point and Click (PnC) software application and will act as a point of contact for end-users on all campuses. This individual will provide Tier 1 support to identify, research, and resolve application and minor hardware issues. The EMR Support Technician will work with users to identify gaps in knowledge and provide system training as appropriate This position will work directly with the ASIS and CHS members of the EMR management team and will be supervised by the CHS EMR manager, with shared oversight by ASIS. This position requires clinical workflow knowledge and the ability to assist with system workflows and process improvements. Under general supervision, performs electronic medical records (EMR) work assignments or assists higher level EMR staff to resolve technical EMR work assignments. Collaborates with internal and external partners to create positive outcomes for students in a way that reflects our commitment to promoting an atmosphere of inclusion, diversity, access, and equity.


Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in information technology related activities such as testing, installing, maintaining, supporting, and/or averting hardware/software system failures on client applications, hardware and software products, mainframe systems, network infrastructure equipment, or telecommunications software or hardware OR equivalent education/experience.

  • 2 years experience working in a medical clinic or health care environment, using an electronic medical records system as part of assigned duties.

  • Demonstrated understanding of basic computer skills and knowledge.

  • Customer service skills, Good oral and written communication skills, ability to understand clients’ problems and ask appropriate questions for clarification, excellent documentation, and ability to maintain accurate records.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years clinical experience with primary duty working in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  •  HIPAA, Hi-Tech, Cures Act, and FERPA knowledge.  

  • Degree in an accredited medical program, or relevant field.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software applications as necessary and able to apply clinical knowledge to assist in improving existing healthcare systems. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
