Summary of Duties:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Planning, the Director of University CRM, Communications, and Strategy will provide system level leadership, direction, and oversight for the development of University Customer Relationship Management (CRM) communications. This position will work closely with WSU Enrollment Management leadership, University Marketing and Communications, Institutional Research, as well as academic departments across WSU’s 6 campuses.

The Director will partner with system wide enrollment and academic units, to continually develop and expand integrated, system wide communication plans. This position will be accountable for the advancement of communication strategies, integrations and recruitment practices; working to maximize the effectiveness of the University CRM, improve the student experience, and achieve cohesive enrollment goals across the WSU system.

The Director will be responsible for communication integration across the WSU system, with focus on WSU Pullman recruitment, enrollment and academic units. The Director will re-engineer the University’s CRM core recruitment communication strategies on an on-going basis to achieve specific, ambitious goals and to position the University for the  next-level of long-term success in continuing to transform processes, access, and overall the WSU student population. The Director will lead and supervise the Enrollment Communications and Marketing team and provide change leadership in regards to university practices and collaboration, promote CRM best practices and may lead CRM trainings. This position will work with the AVP for Enrollment Planning to manage budgets in key marketing, and communication areas.

The Director will partner with Enrollment IT, Enterprise Systems and WSU technology units as needed to streamline business processes and assure integrity of the CRM communication campaigns.


Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.

  • Proven project management experience and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience and skill in writing professional, effective communications to internal and external audiences. 

  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations and a commitment to develop strategies that serve the needs of students.

  • Knowledge of communication strategies and recruitment practices in higher education.

  • Experience building complex communication plans including logic and variable data.

  • Experience with Technolutions (Slate) CRM, or related systems and conceptual understanding of relational  databases.

  • Experience and success leading change.

  • Basic knowledge of ADA accessibility in technology and communications.  

  • Ability to travel to each WSU campus 1-2 times per year.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with WSU admissions, recruitment, technology and systems.

  • Advanced degree in marketing, communications, public relations, education, business, or a related field
