Summary of Duties:

The Office of Accreditation, Assessment, and Evaluation, (AAE) develops and oversees the strategies to:
  • Continuously monitor and actively report on the outcomes of student learning experiences and faculty involvement with student assessment.
  • Enable the delivery of a complex, integrated competency-based curriculum through the learning management system.
  • Support processes and functions related to maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
The role of the Evaluation Data Analyst is to support functions of a comprehensive 4-year program evaluation strategy using a continuous quality improvement approach. The analyst will synthesize quantitative and qualitative evaluation and assessment data for inclusion in 360-degree program evaluation and outcome reports.
 This position will contribute to analyses and reporting of performance of the MD program, supporting the College’s mission to continuously improve the students’ learning experience across the College of Medicine, as well as support all reporting requirements for accreditation and in partnership with the AAMC.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

50% Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Utilizes proficiency with a range of specific tools to generate and analyze data needed for program evaluation and to support accreditation. Tools include analysis software such as R, SAS, SPSS and other quantitative, evaluation software.
  • Extract data from surveys/methods of collection. Clean data and document dataset properties. 
  • Assist with mapping survey data to secondary data sources to link survey questions to course, program and college-level evaluation outcome and benchmarks.
  • Build and administer electronic surveys and other data collection modalities. Develop standard questions, surveys, and associated libraries to support standardization across courses and cohorts.
  • Interpret and analyze data using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, means, medians, and percentages. 
  • Assist with the building and maintenance of dashboards in Power BI to share and visualize aggregate data in a secure and efficient manner.
  • Assist with documenting and monitoring a data warehouse. Conduct data entry, cleaning, validation, and extraction   of data. Troubleshoot issues with data and escalate to supervisor as needed.
  • Process confidential data and information according to academic and FERPA guidelines. Demonstrate and consistently exercise professionalism and judgement in handling, protecting, and reporting confidential and sensitive data.
  • Acquire and compare data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases. Assist with analysis to compare performance across sites.
  • Perform regular quality checks on analysis datasets to ensure accuracy and freedom from errors.  Document issues and solutions.
  • Assist with all phases of creating narrative reports (including graphs, charts, and tables) and with presenting qualitative/quantitative data key findings . 
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff and students to identify metrics for monitoring, and determine and address data and reporting needs.
  • Assist with the development and delivery professional-level reports to College leadership, faculty, and committees. 
  • Establish collaborative relationships with stakeholders to support accurate interpretation and use of report findings.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain and expand expertise in the domains of data science and evaluation.

30% Data Storage and Systems

  • Assist with regular reviews of software systems and assist with strategic decisions on new systems.
  • Collaborate internally and externally to identify current and future needs for data storage, analysis, and reporting.
  • Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, developing and maintaining protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data.
  • Assist with all phases of data storage , data cleansing, data analyses and report writing.
  • Work with IT to troubleshoot reporting database environment and reports. 

15% Office Support

  • Assist with creating and management of messaging to students, faculty, and others regarding processes and protocols of office. 
  • Schedule appointments and meetings with students, faculty, and staff with the Associate Dean and other members of the Evaluation team.
  • Lead or support meetings that pertain to reporting, program evaluation and accreditation statistics. 

5% Other

Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree, including college-level course work in statistics and/or mathematics or one (1) year of work experience in statistics, analysis, or research OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to identify useful information in data sets and suggest conclusions that support decision making. 
  • Strong foundational analytical capabilities including evaluation, analysis and data visualization. 
  • Skilled with Microsoft Excel and analytical tools. 
  • Experience with electronic survey platforms. 
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Well-developed professional writing and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in a data analyst or relevant role. 
  • Demonstrated experience in handling a variety of types of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA
  • Understanding of data gathering, inspecting, cleansing and transforming techniques.
