Call for Social Media Editor

We are seeking someone with social media expertise and interest in scholarly communication to help us develop our social media presence and strategy.

Design Science is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary open access journal international publishing research in the creation of artifacts and systems, and their embedding in our physical, virtual, psychological, economic, and social environment.

The Social Media Editor will join the core team of people responsible for developing the journal, including the Editors-in-Chief (Professor Panos Papalambros of University of Michigan, USA, and John Gero of University of North Carolina at Charlotte and George Mason University, USA) and Cambridge University Press. The ideal candidate should be able to think strategically about using social media, plan effectively, as well as being prepared to source content, edit and publish social media posts. 

This is not a full-time or a substantial part-time role, so may be an ideal opportunity for a postdoc in a relevant field to combine with his or her research.

Personal specifications

  • Educated to degree level (essential), ideally in a technical science
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, especially but not limited to Twitter (essential)
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written (essential)
  • Experience building a social media and communications strategy (desirable)
  • Experience editing and producing video (desirable)

Candidates should be collaborative with strong organisational skills and good attention to detail. Flexibility, and the ability to act on your own initiative are also essential.

The Social Media Editor will be recognised on Editorial Board page and in marketing communications about the journal. 

Time commitment is expected to the equivalent a day a month with regular meetings during the year by conference and video call.

Tenure

An initial trial period followed by a two year contract with Cambridge University Press.
