Summary of Duties:

Duties for this position are to teach courses central to the core construction management curriculum in the Construction Management (B.S.) program of the School of Design + Construction.  Course with a focus on construction graphics and BIM/VDC.  The position will include conducting interdisciplinary research, scholarship and outreach related to contemporary issues in the built environment.

Responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Conduct research and scholarly activities in a defined area related to the built environment disciplines resulting in external grant funding and peer reviewed publication.

  • Teach lecture, lecture/lab, and seminar courses in construction management and allied disciplines within the school and be willing to teach online when required;

  • Participate in School committees and student mentoring;

  • Provide continuing education and short courses to industry and students.


Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a PhD in Construction Management or related discipline. All but dissertation will be considered with an expectation of completion within one (1) year of hiring date. 

  • Candidate must have demonstrated potential to develop a nationally recognized research program with peer reviewed publications.

  • Candidate must have at least three (3) years of professional experience in a construction project management capacity;

  • Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to teach core curriculum courses with a focus on construction graphics and BIM/VDC in the undergraduate B.S. Construction Management program and allied disciplines in the School.

  • Candidate must be willing and able to engage with students and industry partners, including the mentorship of students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.

  • Candidates must have a demonstrated proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, or similar BIM/VDC related software.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional registration/certification such as PE, AIA, LEED, CPC, NCIDQ, or DBIA.

  • Substantial higher education teaching experience in a construction management program.

  • Record of external funding and publications for research.

  • Substantial construction industry experience (5 years +) in one or more of the following construction market sectors: commercial or large-scale residential construction, heavy civil, infrastructure, or specialty contracting.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver elective courses in construction management.

  • Superior interpersonal skills, including collaboration and teamwork.
