Summary of Duties:

This position is to teach core professional degree architecture courses in the undergraduate and graduate architecture program as well as other classes in the SDC when required. The position will include conducting interdisciplinary research, scholarship and outreach related to strategic focus areas in the School and College.

Responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Conduct research and scholarly activities in a defined area related to strategic research areas of the school resulting in external grant funding and peer-reviewed publications.

  • Teach core architecture studio, lecture, and seminar courses in architecture and allied disciplines within the school and be willing to teach online when required.

  • Participate in School committees and student advising and mentoring.


Required Qualifications:

  • Applicants must possess an accredited degree in architecture either a professional Bachelor degree or a professional Master’s degree in architecture.

  • All Applicants must have a Master’s degree.

  • Applicants must be able to clearly define a research agenda that will advance knowledge in the design and construction practices | disciplines, around strategic research areas of the School and College.

  • Potential to develop or achievement of nationally recognized research program with external grant funding and peer-reviewed publications.

  • At least 3 years of professional practice industry experience in architecture.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to social and environmental justice.

  • Mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds, and to engage with industry stakeholders.

  • Superior interpersonal skills, including collaboration and teamwork with students, faculty, and external partners is essential.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in discipline related to the design and construction professions.

  • Record of external funding and publications for research.

  • Substantial higher education teaching experience in an architecture program.

  • Licensure in architecture.

  • 5 years of industry experience.

  • Other professional license/credential (i.e. general contractor, licensed engineer etc.)

Monthly Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
