Summary of Duties:
Under guidance of the Campus Director of Admissions, responsible for leading the daily operations within the Admissions Office including, but not limited to: management of the recruitment schedule; planning and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan; managing enrollment targets and adjusting resources to meet enrollment goals; and supervision of four full-time admissions counselors. As a member of the Recruitment Team, the Assistant Director will also develop and present information to, and meet with, prospective undergraduate students, participate in on- and off-campus recruitment activities, and establish and maintain strategic relationships with school district superintendents, high school counselors and community partners. Travel, evening and weekend work required. Other duties as assigned by the Campus Director of Admissions.
Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. One (1) or more years of experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
Track record of success working in a team environment and exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated student-centered/customer service-oriented philosophy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated experience with public speaking and planning presentations.
Must have or be able to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel and work some weekends and evenings.
There may be occasional remote work for this position. Successful applicants must have access to a high-speed internet connection that is secure and reliable. Strong technical skills in online meeting software (i.e., Zoom) is essential to perform the responsibilities listed above at a distance when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field.
Previous supervision experience specifically in higher education admissions and/or student recruitment.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations such as underrepresented, non-traditional, first-generation, low income, and/or international.
Proficiency in a language other than English (Spanish preferred).
Demonstrated experience with contemporary knowledge of recruitment technology and its application to admissions/enrollment best practices, including experience utilizing a CRM for recruitment outreach, data querying and analysis, and/or marketing and communications.
Demonstrated experience with student advising.
Demonstrated experience with event planning.
Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with strategic planning and program development.
Experience effectively using data for analysis and assessment for development of recruitment strategy.
Knowledge of Washington higher education policy and/or Washington State University.
