Summary of Duties:

The Assistant Director - Civil Rights Compliance assists with overall management and supervision of the Compliance & Civil Rights (CCR), which serves all Washington State University (WSU) campuses. Under the direction of the Director: Manages system civil rights compliance activities. Oversees development and manages CCR's trainings on matters relating to discrimination, sexual harassment (including sex and gender based violence). Assist in management of the administration function with CCR. Supervises CCR civil rights compliance staff. This position is also assigned the ADA Coordinator title and is responsible for working with the unit's leadership to coordinate WSU's efforts to comply with title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities. The position also works with unit leadership to implement the University's Affirmative Action Plan and EEO programs.


Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor's degree in relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directional assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience conducting administrative or legal investigations. Demonstrated conflict resolution and facilitation skills.

  • Experience writing detailed reports; reviewing and processing detailed document, laws, and regulations; carefully analyzing information; handling confidential personnel issues, and giving presentations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in applying and interpreting federal and state laws regulations, and rules related to state institutions of higher education and civil rights compliance, including ADA, Clery, AA, and Title IX. A

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a diverse team-oriented environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Law degree of Master's degree in a relevant field (human resources, management, education, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Title IX, ADA, and Affirmative Action regulation and requirements. Knowledge of EEO laws and requirement.

  • Experience working in higher education) Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of inclusiveness.

  • Experience working with diverse or under-represented populations.

  • Fluency in a second language.

  • Working knowledge of WSU administrative environment.

Additional Information:

Monthly Salary: $5,416.00-$6,416.00/Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
