Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary:
The Student Recycling Coordinator will assist the Waste & Recycling Manager with various day to day operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide maintenance and updates to content on Villanova Recycling and Grounds Department websites as needed
  • Support the Student Sustainability Committee (SSC) by attending group meetings as a representative from Villanova Recycling
  • Research existing and available waste & recycling technologies and programs to evaluate potential of implementation on Villanova’s campus.
  • Compile data and information for annual State and County recycling reports, or other reports as necessary.
  • Provide support for campus sustainability events as needed.
  • Conduct inventory of waste/recycling bins and signage throughout campus.
  • Participate in and assist with organizing waste audits throughout campus to measure effectiveness of program and help identify opportunities for improving operations.
  • Assist in leading, guiding, and training students, and/or volunteers working on campus recycling efforts.
  • Outreach to campus community and other recycling offices on college campuses.
  • Meet with or speak to other organizations regarding recycling initiatives and operations on campus.

Requirements:
  • Professional interest in sustainability, recycling, and campus engagement
  • Strong desire to learn and enthusiasm for environmental education.
  • Big picture thinking with creative ideas for student engagement.
  • Organized, willing to take initiative, think and act proactively to solve problems and assess priorities, and manage a variety of tasks calmly and effectively.
  • Experience making presentations and proposals, as well as presenting.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
  • Experience leading groups, organizing events, and managing large scale programs.
  • Preferred: proficient with Microsoft office suite, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and AEM authoring. Willing to train the right candidates.

Physical Demands Summary:
The job regularly requires walking or standing for several hours on a routine basis, or lifting of moderately heavy items or boxes (up to 40 pounds).
Wage Rate: $13.00/hour
