Position Focus:

Under the direction of and reporting to the YCCI Associate Director for Workforce Development and Training, with considerable latitude for exercising discretion and independent judgment, the Curriculum Developer oversees development and delivery of clinical and translational research training. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and supervising all operations to support the design, development, and implementation of the training program and create engaging and effective training materials that align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organization goals. The Curriculum Developer will contribute to the design of curriculum strategies and collaborates with directors and subject matter experts to ensure delivery of a high-quality curriculum that supports the growth and success of individuals in clinical research roles.


Essential Duties

Directs the design, development, and delivery of clinical and translational research curriculum including interactive curriculum design. Oversees courses, including management of course catalog; creation and maintenance of courses in learning management system. Facilitates review and approval by YSM Learning Partner. Develops strong working relationships with subject matter experts across YSM, YSPH, and others at Yale and collaborating in the creation and delivery of training content. Conducts needs assessment to identify gaps in staff knowledge and training, coordinates development and delivery of trainings. Assists in developing and writing proposals for new business opportunities. Directs the course content development process to ensure curricular excellence of all programs. Compiles, produces, and distributes course materials. Monitors and evaluates training program effectiveness. Develops reporting to demonstrate success and opportunities. Ensures learner records updated in learning management system. Addresses learners concerns and questions. Remains up to date with new training methods and techniques; selecting appropriate training methods or activities for sites/audience. Assists with designing educational component of YCCI website. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.


Required Skill/Ability 1:

Proven effectiveness at working across teams, and/or overseeing the design of a curriculum at the direction of an organization's leadership.


Required Skill/Ability 2:

Demonstrated proficiency with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with tools for the delivery of training and technical assistance with a strong ability to learn new systems.


Required Skill/Ability 3:

Excellent analytical and project management skills. Ability to understand and articulate project plans clearly.


Required Skill/Ability 4:

Proven effectiveness at reviewing content for standards alignment, clarity, and cohesion.


Required Skill/Ability 5:

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.


Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master's degree in education or related field. Prior experience in curriculum or instructional design.
