Summary of Duties:

The Washington State Extension Coordinator is responsible for overseeing WSU Yakima County Extension program that works specifically for disabled farmers and farm workers. This includes planning and facilitating grant deliverables and coordinating and implementing programing. The co-coordinator is additionally responsible certifying grant deliverables upon completion of these requirements and keeping records for annual reports. Participation in webinars, conferences and continuing education is an expectation. This position is the liaison between WSU Yakima County Extension Faculty and the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing Agricultural programs

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Must have completed or be willing to complete training

  • All new employees must be screened and pass a background check

  • Valid Washington Driver’s License, reliable transportation, valid car insurance and good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with non-profit organizations

  • Ability to work as a team member and foster teamwork

  • Experience developing and demonstrating effective teaching methods for volunteers

  • Willingness to work with people of all economic levels, ages, races, and ethnic backgrounds and with rural, suburban and urban audiences

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate proficiently using oral, written, and listening skills

  • Skills to follow policies and procedures

  • Ability to work independently, be self-initiating and able to prioritize work

  • Skills using the MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word); Adobe Acrobat and WordPress; and the ability to adapt to new technologies and techniques

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Monthly Salary:

$3,900.88 - $5,613.47

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

This is a temporary one year project position. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.
