Writing Peer Tutor (Student Worker)

Primary Functions: The Tutor is responsible for providing tutoring sessions via Zoom or in-person, to assist students in achieving academic success.

Essential Functions:

• Support students in achieving academic success through regularly scheduled tutor sessions or on an as-needed basis to help clarify class concepts by reviewing class material, discussing the text, or working on practice problems. Tutor sessions are conducted via Zoom or in-person.
• Provide support in day-to-day operations while working under limited supervision.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have received at least an "A" in one or more of the following courses, or the equivalent of, including, but not limited to EN 100, EN 101, EN 102
• Excellent customer service orientation with the tact and strong verbal communication skills needed to facilitate relationship-building  
• Maturity of judgment and ability to resolve problems without delay and/or to seek managerial intervention. 
• Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality in handling student information. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of the team.

Working Conditions:

• Works in a normal office environment.
