Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse Instructor will instruct students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Degree in LPN.  The Nurse Instructor will provide instruction to students to include:  classroom, lab and clinical instruction, development of curriculum, maintenance of classroom records, advisement of students, service on campus committees, and communication with representatives in the field. In addition to instruction in both nursing programs, the instructor will provide coordination and leadership for simulation lab experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach and/or oversee at least 15 hours per semester of nursing courses (can be in multiple topics/areas) and/or simulation labs, including on-line and in-class lectures, skills labs, and clinicals/practicums.

Keep regular office hours and maintain licensure, certifications, and health documents.

Participate in development of curriculum, syllabi, and course materials; evaluate mastery of skills and competencies and required by the learning outcomes.

Serve on program, department, school, and college-wide committees, and participate in meetings and activities.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work in both a face-to-face and online teaching environment.

Knowledge of computer based academic delivery systems.

Physical ability to facilitate and participate in labs, simulations, and clinical settings; includes the ability to occasionally push/pull, lift, squat, and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work with an ethnically diverse student body.

Demonstrate competence in theory and clinical education, teaching, assessment of learning, and curriculum development and expertise, enthusiasm and creativity in teaching which produces an environment where learning and self-improvement occur.

Assists with coordination and plans and instruction of theory or clinical courses based on approved program curriculum to achieve the specific course outcome objectives and as assigned.

Apply existing technologies in a creative manner.

Provide leadership and planning in simulation labs.

Assists in the identification of students at risk for not achieving course outcomes in order to assist with the provision of corrective action plans and remediation. All remediation must be discussed with the Content Expert/Lead Instructor and the Program Director or designee.

Minimum Requirements:

-Associate degree level level Registered Nurse.

-Holds current unencumbered Arkansas license to practice Registered Nursing.

-Has a minimum 3 years as RN experience in clinical nursing practice and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current unencumbered registered nurse license to practice in Arkansas.

Holds a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Nursing degree.

Has current work experience as a registered nurse for 4 or more years.

Has work experience in women's health, mental health, or long-term care areas.

Has work experience in teaching and/or clinical instruction.

Is knowledgeable of the rules and regulations of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

Has training and/or experience working in simulation laboratory environments.
