The Ozark Campus is located on I-40 between Fort Smith and Russellville, Arkansas, in the city of Ozark. The campus, which is more than 26 acres and includes a half-mile exercise path and disc golf course, is located along Arkansas Highway 23 North in Ozark, Arkansas. The city of Ozark, with a population of approximately 3,500, is located on the banks of the Arkansas River and surrounded to the north by the Ozark National Forest and to the south by the Ouachita National Forest. Located to the west of Ozark is the city of Fort Smith, a commercial and industrial center for western Arkansas. Russellville, home to Arkansas Tech University's main campus and an area of vigorous industrial development, is located to the southeast of Ozark on Interstate 40.

Position Summary:

Workforce Education Instructor for Biology and Health Science instruction. This position reports to the  Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Workforce Advancement on the Ozark Campus.  The instructor position is responsible for 15 credit hours of instruction per fall/spring semester. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, development of curriculum, assessment, maintenance of classroom records, advisement of students, service on campus committees, and communication with representatives in the field, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain and update course syllabi.
Assist in the development of new curricula to support educational outcomes.
Teach Biology and Health Science classes as needed
Provide instructional leadership
Help ensure alignment among instructors of foundational health science courses
Develop and implement daily lesson plans supporting academic outcomes
Assist with establishing course goals and assessment course and program outcomes
Implement assessment of student learning to measure progress and competency.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and  return work promptly with feedback to promote maximum learning.
Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate instructional strategies related to learning outcomes.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in word processing, computer software student management systems, electronic communications, oral and written communication skills.  Commitment to work in a team environment in service to students.  Possess an understanding of the nontraditional post-secondary traditional, non-traditional adult learners. Strong organizational and instructional skills are expected.  Met goals/expectations of ATU General Education program.
Work collaboratively and professionally to solve problems and develop new opportunities for the campus.
Provide responsive and timely feedback to students.
Respond to email and requests for communication in a timely manner.
Fulfill professional duties and follow policies, laws, and University protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in health science related field or in Biology
2 or more years teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level OR 2 or more years working in an allied health field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree OR 18 graduate credit hours in Biology
4 or more years teaching experience at secondary or post-secondary level
Experience in an allied health related field

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

This position is located at Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus in Ozark, Arkansas.
Must be able to stand for long periods, and lift 25 pounds occasionally.
